|Golfing for Grants|
Dear Friend of the Lane Tech Alumni Association,
When golfers tee up at Bloomingdale Golf Club on August 3rd, it will mark the 15th year that the LTAA has gathered on the greens to reconnect and enjoy a little friendly competition. It will also kickoff a whole new approach to our event.
Anyone living in the Chicago area understands the challenges great schools like Lane Tech are encountering due to political dysfunction and economic hardship. Every year, the budget cuts become more extreme, school schedules more precarious, and the ability to really teach, more daunting. Yet the dedicated faculty and administration continue to find new ways to move the ball forward. ACT scores were the highest in history in 2016. Lane was recently ranked 5th in the state of Illinois by U.S. News and World Report, and Chicago Magazine calls Lane one of the five most rigorous schools in Chicago!
Each year the LTAA awards between $20,000 and $25,000 to Lane’s faculty members through the LTAA Teacher Innovation Grant Program. Our goal is to significantly fund this program from your contribution to “Golfing for Grants”. Over the years we have funded some truly amazing programs and activities like robotics, mock trial, theatrical productions , athletics and more, but every year the grant committee must make the difficult decision to only fund certain applicants partially, or others not at all because we too have budget constraints. So this year we will be “Golfing for Grants”! Proceeds raised on August 3rd will go directly to this important part of the LTAA’s portfolio to support academics at Lane and you can help.
Sign up to play and recruit other foursomes. If you are not a golfer, you still need to eat dinner! Come join us for casual dining and socializing after the golfing is done, and learn firsthand about some of the great things happening at Lane. If you cannot attend, consider donating a prize for the raffle or having your family or business sponsor a hole on the course, or just make a general contribution to the Grants Program. Click here to find all the details. Come out and Golf for Grants!
